Preheat Oven to 375 degrees
Mix
Combine dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Slowly add in water, mixing continuously until the dough begins to come away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Fold the far edge of the dough back over on itself towards you. Press into the dough with the heels of your hands and push away. After each push, rotate the dough 90°. Repeat this process for 5 minutes, sprinkling only enough flour on your kneading surface to prevent sticking.
Proof
Put the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise at room temperature for about 1 hour -- should be nearly doubled in volume.
Shape
Deflate the dough, form into a round or a long loaf, and place on a lightly greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover the loaf with greased plastic wrap, and let it rise for 30 to 45 minutes, until noticeably puffy. Use a sharp knife to slash the top in a decorative pattern.
Bake
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until it's golden brown. Remove the bread from the oven and cool for 30 minutes before slicing.
